Strategic Natural Resource Consultants is one of the most highly regarded natural resource consulting firms in British Columbia. What started as a small forestry enterprise in 2001 has grown into a flourishing province-wide team of resource professionals. In 2022, our longtime client the Ehattesaht/Chinehkint First Nation joined us as a majority owner.
The Ehattesaht Chinehkint First Nation is part of the Nuu-chah-nulth cultural and linguistic peoples that have lived on the west coast of Vancouver Island for millennia. Their territory is the foundation of their culture, economy, society, and history. The resources from the land and sea sustained their people, as Chief Simon John states: “Our legal and political system is connected to ownership and stewardship of our land and our waters.”
Understanding the interconnectivity of the land, the water, and the people is an important tenet of their culture, and is reflected in their language: Hišukišcawak which translates to “everything is connected; everything is one”.
As a First Nations majority-owned company, Strategic adopts an inclusive and innovative model of problem solving that can be seen in our client relationships, our technical expertise, our project planning, and our management. This belief in our people and our ability to learn and adapt carries into our implementation as well. We employ dynamic on-the-ground professionals across BC who are industry leaders in resource and land management, professional forestry, construction support services, environmental science, geomatics, remote site project development and most importantly relationships.
