Galore Creek Mine Access Study

Project Date: 2020 – Present

Galore Creek Mining Corporation (GCMC) is seeking to operate the Galore Mine located in Northwestern British Columbia, approximately 150 km northwest of the Port of Stewart.  SNRC’s role is to determine an optimal alignment and preliminary design for a 142km all-season access road connecting the mine site to Highway 37.

Strategic Approach

  • Assessing snowfall accumulation patterns affecting site access using Lidar data
  • Steep and unforgiving terrain with multiple avalanche paths, 6m of annual snowfall, and large crossings requires collaboration with bridge and avalanche professionals to design a safe, cost-efficient road
  • Multiple RoadEng templates were created in order to incorporate a pipeline into the road design for 54.8km, without accounting for the fill material volume effects

  • Subconsultant to Allnorth
